Fictional Biography

Shinrei was born into the Mibu clan. He is the half brother of Hotaru. At a young age, Kyo (who was still a child) saved him from an assassination. Shinrei saw Kyo as a friend, but was punished by his father for that. He was then taught to hate Kyo for his crimes against the Mibu Clan.
Shinrei was later trained by Fubuki, who taught him under the teachings of the Mumyosaikyo Ryu school. In his training, Shinrei learned to control liquid as though it were an extension of himself. After his training was completed, Shinrei joined the elite Goyōsei.
He met Kyo again many years later. He was sent to kill both Kyo and Muramasa. After a battle, Kyo was able to defeat Shinrei. Shinrei implanted one of his waterwyrms into Yuya then escaped.
Kyo eventually fought his was to Shinrei. Although Kyo now had 3 of the Shiseiten (who were already heavily injured) helping him, Shinrei was still able to defeat them all until Kyoshiro's spirit allowed Kyo full control of his body. Kyo was then able ot defeat Shinrei again by using the secret technique Byakko.
After the battle, Shinrei decided to question his master, Fubuki, on numerous thing. When Shinrei saw Fubuki speaking to Chinmei (whom was presumed dead), Shinrei realized that he had been manipulated by Fubuki during his life. Shinrei attempted to kill Fubuki, but was defeated effortlessly. He was then imprisoned in one of the Mibu's dungeons. Weakened, Shinrei was unable to escaped. However, a strange man whom was revealed later to be the Crimson King, freed Shinrei before disappearing.Shinrei joined Kyo's group and fought Fubuki a second time, but was still defeated.
After the Crimson King's defeat, Shinrei is one of the surviving Mibu working on restoring the clan to its former glory.
 

Techniques:

In battle, Shinrei wields two light-weight curved swords. Despite the swords being made of water, they can easily cut through steel. Shinrei has also proven himself to be a genius in combat, able to memorize a person's fighting pattern almost immediately. Shinrei is also a master of a unique sword style. He is able to make his attacks pass through an enemy's defenses. By showing his enemies a straight cut, Shinrei allows the enemy to move to guard against the attack. Almost immediately, Shinrei is able to make the attack curve, bypassing the defenses of the enemy. This requires extreme accuracy since a person can break their own arm by attempting to use this sword style.

Suiharyujin: Water-Break Dragon Circle. Shinrei sends out water in the shape of dragons. The dragons explode and cover the entire field in water. Anyone unlucky enough to be trapped there will be pinned down. The current is strong enough to reopen wounds.

Suihananahoryo: Water Break Seven Dragons. Shinrei unleashes seven dragons onto his enemy. The effects of this attack are not seen as it was countered by Kyo's attack. However, it can be assumed it acts like a tidal wave.

Suimabakuryusen: Water Demon Exploding Dragon Vortex. Shinrei unleashes a large amount of water dragons that continuously attacks Shinrei's enemies.

Muryou Saikyou Ryuu: Water Sevensplit Dragon. Shinrei's ultimate attack. Seven dragons are summoned and fired at an enemy. The dragons enter the person's body and devour them from the inside, saving the heart for last. The dragons move quickly and can kill a person in seconds.

Dragon's Red Tears: Shinrei can use his blood in combination with his water to create the Red Dragon's Tears. This technique causes the water to turn into acid melting anything that touches it.
