Nobunaga was forced to commit suicide during the warring states era in 1582 by Akechi Mitsuhide. In the realm of Samurai Deeper Kyo, he was trapped in a burning building by young Kyo. After death, he was revived by the Mibu as a tool to exact revenge against Kyo. He can place his soul in any body, which is how he remains young in appearance despite his old age. Later in the manga he possesses the body of Shiina Nozumo, Yuya's brother.
