kyo kills nobunaga, another comet hits the earth, then kyo and kyoshiro mibu have their own bodies again but they end up fighting, it is uncertain who wins and the ending was probably meant to be open to the interpretation of viewers. however, in the scene in the snow, after the two have fought, the silhouette of the person left standing (the other person being presumably dead) seems to match that of kyoshiro rather than kyo. the last scene by the river also seems to indicate this. while it may be argued that kyo may have returned to kyoshiro's body after defeating and killing him, this is highly unlikely as he seems to have exhibited much attachment to his own mibu-constructed body throughout the series.
